Aditya Singh, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from VIT Bhopal, hails from Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling at City Montessori School, Lucknow. His dream of serving in the Indian Armed Forces motivated him to persevere despite facing multiple setbacks.
Aditya was recommended in AFCAT-1 2026 after an inspiring journey of 17 SSB attempts, proving that consistency and self-belief can eventually lead to success.
Why He Chose R2R
To strengthen his preparation, Aditya enrolled in R2R’s Psychology Batch. He found the sessions highly beneficial as they helped him understand the true purpose behind the psychological tests and cleared many misconceptions surrounding the SSB process.
According to him, the guidance enabled him to write more genuine and relatable stories by connecting every response with his own experiences instead of trying to impress the assessors.
What Changed in His 17th Attempt?
When reflecting on what made his final attempt different, Aditya believes the biggest transformation came in the Psychology Tests and Interview.
- He wrote authentic stories based on his own personality and life experiences.
- His interview performance was significantly stronger than in previous attempts.
- While he had generally performed well in the GTO tasks across earlier attempts, this time his interview and psychology performance complemented his GTO performance, resulting in an overall balanced assessment.
The Biggest Challenge During SSB
Aditya considers the Psychology Tests to be the most challenging part of the SSB process.
In his initial attempts, he struggled because there was uncertainty about what exactly needed to be written. He also observed that the market is filled with myths and misleading advice regarding psychological testing.
Over time, he realized that success lies in staying away from these myths and responding naturally rather than attempting to fit into an imagined “ideal candidate” profile.
Message to SSB Aspirants
Aditya’s advice to future aspirants is simple yet powerful:
“Focus on yourself. Be who you truly are and show your real personality. Don’t think that SSB is a huge monster. It’s much simpler than people make it out to be. Just be yourself.”
His journey is a reminder that recommendations do not always come quickly. With perseverance, honest self-improvement, and the right guidance, success eventually follows.
Today, Aditya’s recommendation after 17 attempts stands as an inspiring example for every defence aspirant who is still waiting for their breakthrough.
